Important Summary

ProfitPerSale provides estimates for a US/USD Etsy order. Results depend on the values you enter and the dated fee assumptions displayed by the Site. They are not an Etsy account statement, a guarantee of the charges Etsy will apply, a promise of profit, or tax, accounting, financial, business, or legal advice.

Verify current charges in your Etsy Payment account and Etsy’s official sources before relying on an estimate.

1. Estimate Only

The calculator estimates selected Etsy fees and seller costs, estimated take-home and margin, a target item price, and differences between two scenarios. The arithmetic is based on user-entered values and the fee version shown beside the result.

A displayed target price is the minimum cent-denominated price that satisfies the calculator’s selected mathematical predicate under its frozen inputs and assumptions. It is not a pricing recommendation and does not guarantee that an item will sell, that a business will be profitable, or that the displayed target will be achieved.

2. Dated Fee Sources and Rounding

The source pages used for this version did not establish an effective date for every fee or Etsy’s exact cent-rounding method. The calculator uses a disclosed per-component decimal HALF_UP cent-rounding assumption. Etsy may calculate, round, credit, reserve, refund, or adjust an order differently.

A review date means the cited public information was checked on that date. It does not mean the information will remain current. If the review due date has passed, treat the fee assumptions as potentially stale until the Site shows a newly accepted version.

3. Modeled Items

The current US/USD model can include, when selected or entered:

  • listing fees allocated to the order;
  • transaction fee on item price after seller discounts plus buyer-paid shipping and gift wrap;
  • US Etsy Payments percentage and fixed fee, with buyer sales tax included in the percentage base only when the user enters it;
  • an optional 0%, 12%, or 15% Offsite Ads scenario, subject to the modeled $100 cap;
  • actual shipping, materials, labor, packaging, other allocated advertising, and other per-order seller costs; and
  • target take-home or target margin assumptions.

Every input is a user assumption unless the interface says otherwise.

4. Important Exclusions

The calculator does not automatically model every possible Etsy, payment, tax, order, account, or business adjustment. Excluded or user-supplied items include, without limitation:

  • shop setup charges;
  • Etsy Ads spend;
  • shipping labels unless entered as actual shipping cost;
  • currency conversion;
  • VAT;
  • regulatory or location-specific fees;
  • refunds, credits, reserves, chargebacks, or deposit fees;
  • taxes on seller fees;
  • inventory, overhead, income tax, self-employment tax, or other accounting allocations;
  • discounts, quantities, costs, or buyer tax that change when a price changes; and
  • other account-, order-, product-, or location-specific adjustments.

Do not enter the selected Offsite Ads fee again as other advertising cost, or it may be counted twice.

5. Buyer Sales Tax

Buyer sales tax entered by the user is not treated as seller revenue. In the current model, it affects only the US payment-processing percentage base. ProfitPerSale does not determine a tax rate, tell you what tax applies, prepare a return, or advise on tax treatment. Leaving the field at zero may understate the processing estimate when Etsy applies buyer sales tax.

6. Offsite Ads

Selecting a 12% or 15% Offsite Ads scenario is a user choice for stress testing. ProfitPerSale does not connect to Etsy and cannot determine whether a shop is eligible for a tier, whether participation is required, whether a particular order was attributed to an ad, or whether Etsy will apply the modeled amount. Check your Etsy account and current Etsy rules.

The operator is not acting as your accountant, tax preparer, financial adviser, attorney, or fiduciary. Seek a qualified professional for advice about your circumstances.

8. No Profit or Performance Guarantee

Actual sales, prices, demand, conversion, fees, taxes, costs, refunds, and profit can differ. ProfitPerSale does not guarantee:

  • that an estimate is accurate or complete;
  • that a target price will sell;
  • that you will earn or save any amount;
  • that a scenario is profitable;
  • that fee sources or assumptions will remain current; or
  • that the service will always be available or free.

Labels such as “Estimated take-home per sale,” “profit,” or “margin” describe the result of the stated arithmetic, not verified earnings.

9. Independent Tool; No Etsy Affiliation

ProfitPerSale is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, approved by, or operated by Etsy, Inc. It is not an official Etsy calculator, partner tool, account service, or statement.

Etsy is a trademark of Etsy, Inc. The Site uses the name only to identify the marketplace whose publicly described fees are being estimated. All third-party names, marks, services, and source content belong to their respective owners.

Review the Site’s Fee assumptions page at https://profitpersale.com/etsy-fee-assumptions/ and follow the cited Etsy Help Center links. Also check your Etsy Payment account and transaction records, because account-specific charges and adjustments may not appear in the model.

11. Browser-Local Calculator and Site Data Boundary

The ProfitPerSale calculator runs in your browser. Calculator inputs and calculated results are used to produce estimates on your device and are not intentionally submitted to ProfitPerSale as calculator data. The Site has no Etsy login, API connection, import, scraping, cloud calculation history, or account reconciliation.

The Site currently loads Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare Pages may process limited technical request and usage data for analytics, page and asset delivery, reliability, abuse prevention, and security. This provider processing is separate from the calculator’s in-browser calculations, and ProfitPerSale does not use calculator inputs as analytics fields.

Independent production testing completed before this update observed no calculator-action network requests and no application writes to cookies, local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, Cache Storage, or service-worker registrations during the tested sessions. This describes the tested implementation; it is not a promise that browsers, networks, Cloudflare, or other infrastructure never process technical data.

Cloudflare controls relevant provider systems and may change its settings, practices, and retention. ProfitPerSale therefore does not state an unverified fixed retention period for Cloudflare analytics, delivery, reliability, or security data.
