Etsy Fee & Profit Calculator
Estimate US Etsy transaction, payment, listing, and Offsite Ads fees. Add seller costs, compare scenarios, and solve a target price.
How the estimate works
The calculator adds item price, buyer-paid shipping, and buyer-paid gift wrap as gross order revenue. It estimates each modeled fee, adds seller-entered costs, and subtracts both from revenue.
Percentage-derived fees are rounded independently to the nearest cent using decimal half-up rounding. This is a documented estimation method; Etsy’s exact cent-rounding method was not confirmed in the accessible official material reviewed for this version.
The calculator does not include every possible Etsy charge or account event. Exclusions include setup fees, Etsy Ads spend unless you enter it, currency conversion, non-US regulatory operating fees, VAT on seller fees, refunds, credits, reserves, chargebacks, deposit fees, and taxes on seller fees.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official Etsy calculator?
No. ProfitPerSale is an independent planning tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Etsy.
Which Etsy fees does it estimate?
For the current US/USD version, it models a $0.20 listing-fee unit, a 6.5% transaction fee, US payment processing at 3% + $0.25, and optional 12% or 15% Offsite Ads scenarios with a $100 per-order cap. Bases and limitations are documented on the assumptions page.
Does it calculate sales tax?
No. You may enter buyer sales tax shown on an order because it can affect the payment-processing percentage base. It is not treated as seller revenue, and the calculator does not determine a tax rate or provide tax advice.
Why might my Etsy Payment account show different amounts?
Actual amounts can differ because of fee changes, Etsy’s rounding, taxes, refunds, credits, currency conversion, reserves, shipping labels, account-specific events, Offsite Ads attribution, or inputs that do not match the order.
What is the difference between take-home and profit margin?
Estimated take-home is revenue minus modeled Etsy fees and seller-entered costs. Estimated profit margin is that amount divided by gross order revenue. Both are planning estimates, not guaranteed payouts or accounting profit.
Does ProfitPerSale save my numbers?
In v0, calculations happen in your browser and calculator inputs are not intentionally persisted or added to shareable URLs. Ordinary hosting and security systems may still process technical request data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Can the calculator tell whether an order came from Offsite Ads?
No. Choose an Offsite Ads tier only to model an order you know or want to assume was attributed. Confirm actual attribution in Etsy.
Can I use the result as tax, accounting, financial, or legal advice?
No. Use it as an estimate and consult an appropriate professional for advice specific to your business.
